LOVEBITES' - ETERNAL PHETOMENON TOUR - BY GEKIROCK [TRANSLATED]

LOVEBITES' largest ever domestic tour "Eternal Phenomenon Tour" that started in January has reached its finale. After visiting various Zepp venues and the members' hometowns (including a trip to Mexico in between!), they finally arrived at Zepp DiverCity (TOKYO), where they showed the band's real power to a packed audience and forged an even stronger bond.

After THIN LIZZY's "The Boys Are Back In Town" and JUDAS PRIEST's "Diamonds And Rust", the SE started to play and the heat on the floor gradually increased. The members appeared in pure white outfits and started the live performance with "Glory To The World". They overwhelmed the audience with their powerful sound pressure and technical exchange, and the audience followed suit by singing along. After Asami (Vo) powerfully declared "We are LOVEBITES and we play heavy metal", they moved on to "Unchained".

Although it is a track from their latest album, "LOVEBITES EP II," it incorporates catchy choruses and jumps, and seems to have completely penetrated the fans. When they jumped, there was an accident where the receiver of Miyako (Gt/Pf)'s in-ear monitor came off, but they remained unfazed and performed a brilliant twin lead with Midori (Gt), showing their high level of experience as a live band. In "Scream For Me," which featured an aggressive intro by Fami (Ba), who is from Tokyo and was making a triumphant return to the stage, Fami showed off his innocent behavior, such as looking at the entire venue from the balcony behind the stage where Haruna (Dr) was. Not only did they have high performance skills, but they also excited the venue with their eye-catching staging.
After checking the enthusiasm of the floor, they played "Soul Defender" from "LOVEBITES EP II," which was performed for the first time on this tour. The audience was heated up with the powerful thrash tune "Paranoia," which was also performed for the first time on this tour, and "Judgement Day" heated up even more with its emotional performance and long tones that Asami carried with her emotions. "No time to rest," she said, and followed up with "Break The Wall," and the audience rose to their feet, raising huge calls. After the heated section, the MC talked about Fami's triumphant return, but Fami himself seemed to be using his head to play, and his rather absent-minded reply of "Yes" drew laughter from the audience. It was also his last live performance as a student, and there were voices of "Congratulations!" from the audience. The atmosphere in the venue became a little more relaxed, but when Asami began to explain the story he put into "The Bell In The Jail," the atmosphere became tense again. The heat was raised with a fast-paced beat, and then it was connected to "The Unbroken," a dry hard rock with a melancholy feel.
After Miyako's piano solo of Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata", the progressive large-scale piece "Dystopia Symphony" was performed. In the middle of the performance, there was a guitar solo with a motif of "Pathetique", and Asami and Miyako played the piano duet, and the challenging performance drew applause from the entire venue. "Soldier Stands Solitarily" was dropped without a break, and the lightning-like beat and Asami's high tone exploded. It further increased the sense of unity on the floor. In the MC towards the end of the show, looking back on the time when they performed their first live at TSUTAYA O-WEST (now Spotify O-WEST) in 2016, he expressed his gratitude to the gathered fans, saying "I never dreamed that I would tour Zepp all over the country".
Then, with the words "Let's break through the limits, Tokyo!", they moved on to the high-speed number "Where's Identity". The chorus parts were set up throughout the show, and Asami had each member sing them, which was a unique production, and the floor gave a powerful call. The last song was "Don't Bite The Dust," which could be said to be the origin of LOVEBITES, and "Holy War," which shows their spirit as metal warriors, and the main part ended with the metal sign being raised. The encore started with "Bravehearted," which features a heroic twin lead, and they once again built a strong bond with the anthem "We The United," which has colored the climax of many live shows, saying, "Let's unite to conclude the strongest tour, Tokyo!" The last song chosen was "Someone's Dream." The powerful performance, which began with the call, "Don't end it with just a dream, let's make it come true together!", resonated in the hearts of the audience as a declaration of their determination to keep moving forward without stopping. After the show, the screen came down and it was announced that they would be performing at the Nippon Budokan, which had been their dream, and the venue was filled with the greatest joy of the day.
Based on the announcement after the show, this tour may have been a way for them to look back on their roots and memorable places before the big showdown. Having already demonstrated a performance with an extraordinary scale, I can't wait to see how they will evolve in the coming year, and what kind of live performance they will give at the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame" on the day.

The Warning in Brazil: The Big Interview with Rolling Stone Brazil!

One of the five names announced to open for The Offspring’s tour in Brazil took some fans by surprise. Among several bands somehow linked to punk, there’s The Warning, a hard rock trio formed by Mexican sisters Daniela (vocals and guitar), Paulina (drums), and Alejandra Villarreal Vélez (bass). In an interview with Rolling Stone Brasil , they admitted they were initially surprised when they found out they’d be playing alongside Sublime, Rise Against, The Damned, and Amyl & The Sniffers, in addition to the tour’s headliners. But who cares? Their excitement about performing in South America’s largest country for the first time quickly overshadowed any concerns. Paulina, the most articulate speaker of the group—and often cited as the main songwriter—reflected: “When we were added to the tour lineup, I looked at the other bands and thought, ‘Oh, we’re kind of the odd ones out here.’ But the opportunity came after we played a show with The Offspring in the Un...

MIDORI TATEMATSU (LOVEBITES): "I AM PROUD THAT WE HAVE SO MANY FEMALE BANDS IN JAPAN"

"I am proud that in Japan we have so many female-fronted bands": Midori Tatematsu, Lovebites Interview – February 24, 2025 For the first time in their career, the Japanese band Lovebites is coming to Latin America, performing at the first edition of the Titans of Metal festival on March 1 at Parque Bicentenario in Mexico City. We had the chance to talk with guitarist Midori Tatematsu about her first impressions of coming to Mexico and the growing, highly admired Japanese metal scene. How do you feel about coming to Mexico for the first time and sharing the stage with major bands like W.A.S.P. and Six Feet Under at the first Titans of Metal Fest? This will be our first live performance in Latin America, so we are especially excited about it. As a band, it’s a great honor for us to share the stage with these metal legends, and personally, I really want to see them perform because I’ve never had the chance to attend one of their concerts. The worl...
