MIDORI TATEMATSU (LOVEBITES): "I AM PROUD THAT WE HAVE SO MANY FEMALE BANDS IN JAPAN"

"I am proud that in Japan we have so many female-fronted bands": Midori Tatematsu, Lovebites Interview – February 24, 2025 For the first time in their career, the Japanese band Lovebites is coming to Latin America, performing at the first edition of the Titans of Metal festival on March 1 at Parque Bicentenario in Mexico City. We had the chance to talk with guitarist Midori Tatematsu about her first impressions of coming to Mexico and the growing, highly admired Japanese metal scene. How do you feel about coming to Mexico for the first time and sharing the stage with major bands like W.A.S.P. and Six Feet Under at the first Titans of Metal Fest? As a band, it’s a great honor for us to share the stage with these metal legends, and personally, I really want to see them perform because I’ve never had the chance to attend one of their concerts. The worl...

THE WARNING – QUEEN OF THE MURDER SCENE: A DARK JOURNEY THROUGH CONCEPTUAL ROCK

The second studio album by the Mexican trio The Warning, Queen of the Murder Scene, marks a crucial moment in the band's career. Released on November 25, 2018, this isn't just another rock album – it's a dark and immersive conceptual work that tells a story of obsession, psychological descent, and murder through 13 powerful tracks. They decided to create an album with a cohesive narrative, told from two alternating perspectives: the protagonist’s "good" side and her dark, psychotic alter ego. This narrative duality creates tension and emotional depth throughout the listening experience. A CONCEPT BUILT IN CHAPTERS The album was recorded at Sphere Studios in Los Angeles and released independently through Nada Mas Records. It was cleverly structured into chapters, released separately in the weeks leading ...

Below is my translation of an interview with Akane on *Rolling Stone Japan* vol. 28 on September 25, 2024. **Akane: Her tackle on double bass drumming** Akane controls Band-Maid’s beats with her technical and physical drumming skills. As Band-Maid basically write songs digitally, it’s not uncommon for them to come up with somewhat superhuman drum patterns, but she has always overcome them and kept improving. She talked with us about how their collaboration with The Warning had a big impact on her, and her ambitions as a drummer. ― In which song on *Epic Narratives* did you personally challenge yourself? Akane: The song I challenged myself in was [*Protect You*]( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knnw6Mri9gc ). I played blast beat in the intro. I had used it just a little before, like for two bars, but this time, I fully used it in the intro. I studied from the basics again, like what blast beat is. ― Which song do you feel particularly attached to on this album? Akane: It’s [...
